    Fire Prevention Efforts Were Underway at Wright’s Field in Alpine Before West Fire

    By Alpine Chamber of Commerce  – August 2018 With the West Fire bearing down from the east end of Alpine on July 6,2018 the natural park known as Wright’s Field in the center of Alpine was already well-prepared. Fortunately, firefighters stopped the blaze just before it got into the natural preserve loved by walkers, hikers, bike and horseback riders.     Residents Are Asked Not to Disturb WET AREAS in WRIGHT’S FIELD

    COMMUNITY BULLETIN From Back Country Land Trust February 7, 2017 – Alpine Ca: A temporary trail closure is in place around our vernal pool habitat at Wright’s Field (Map it). These seasonal wetlands are home to a rare and endemic species called the western spade-footed toads that are breeding during this time of year. Vernal Pools are the most threatened habitats in San Diego County. Please do not disturb these wet areas! Dogs should not be allowed in pools.
