    Kiwanis Club of Alpine Working Hard for Our Community

    The Kiwanis Club of Alpine has been hard at work for our community.  Beginning with the Soap Box Derby, to Kite Flying and Vintage Alpine. The Soap Box Derby is a long standing tradition that started in 1934.  The goal of the Soap Box Derby is to inspire, engage and challenge youth.  It creates passion and education in science, technology, engineering and math.  It teaches leadership, sportsmanship and perseverance.  It also provides mentorship, teamwork and is rooted in family and community.  The Alpine Kiwanis Soap Box Derby is being help Saturday, March 19 at Viejas Casino and Resort.  Kids ages…

    Double S Tack and Feed Hosts Annual Easter Egg Hunts

    Join Double S Tack and Feed for their 7th annual Easter Egg hunts on April 9, 2022.  The first egg hunt will be held at 11am, followed by a second at 2pm.  There will be 250 eggs at each hunt filled with chicks, chick feed, and other goodies.  Rapture Horse Rescue will be on site helping with egg decorating and photos with the Easter Bunny.  You can win huge Easter baskets as well.  It will be a great event with snack and prizes for everyone!     Alpine Historical Society February Program

    Join the Alpine Historical Society for their first program of 2022.  They will feature Bob Ring, a third generation resident of Alpine.  He will share stories of his family and historic sites of Alpine.  The program will be on February 13, 2022 at 1:00pm.  The program will be held at the Alpine Woman’s Club.  Admission is FREE.  Reservations are required.  Contact Corinnie at (619)417-1306 or at info@alpinehistory.org.     Greater Alpine Fire Safe Council

    The Greater Alpine Fire Safe Council is currently taking registration and sign ups for their annual chipping events for 2022. Their free Curbside Chipping Program provides property owners with the opportunity to safely dispose of the flammable vegetation around their homes instead of burning it. The program goal is to reduce fuel loads and wildfire risk to prevent and mitigate future wildfires. The No-Cost Chipping Program is administered by the Greater Alpine Fire Safe Council.     I attended the Alpine Design Review Board meeting tonight. Here is a summary of what I heard. The lease is signed. There is a Jack in The Box moving into the Fred’s location. The lease will be taken over by a franchisee. It will not be a Jack in The Box corporate owned location. The building will NOT look like other traditional Jack locations.
