Kiwanis Club of Alpine Working Hard for Our Community
Soap Box Derby, Kite Flying, Vintage Alpine
The Kiwanis Club of Alpine has been hard at work for our community. Beginning with the Soap Box Derby, to Kite Flying and Vintage Alpine.
The Soap Box Derby is a long standing tradition that started in 1934. The goal of the Soap Box Derby is to inspire, engage and challenge youth. It creates passion and education in science, technology, engineering and math. It teaches leadership, sportsmanship and perseverance. It also provides mentorship, teamwork and is rooted in family and community. The Alpine Kiwanis Soap Box Derby is being help Saturday, March 19 at Viejas Casino and Resort. Kids ages 7-19 are invited to come race. Check in is at 7:30am with the race beginning at 9:30am sharp. Food will be available at the race track as well as the Viejas Outlet Food Court. For more information about the race, call Greg Fox at (619)840-9400.
The Kiwanis Club of Alpine is also holding a kite flying afternoon on April 10, 2022 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Boulder Oaks Elementary. There will be free kites, hot dogs and soda. The kites were donated by our own Ace Hardware in Alpine. Bring the kids and join the Club for free lunch and a great afternoon outdoors!
And finally, an event for the adults! Vintage Alpine began in 1990 and is now one of the largest events of its kind in San Diego County. Each year, more than 500 people of discerning taste from all over the Southwest attend this upscale event. This event features numerous wineries, offering tastings of 40 plus wines from a variety of wineries. Many of the fine restaurants in the San Diego and Alpine area provide specialty foods for sampling making this a true taste sensation. Besides the wonderful taste sensations, Vintage Alpine also features relaxing live music in a beautiful garden setting, a silent auction, and chances for attendees to meet wine and food specialists and discover new favorites. Not only is it a beautiful event for our community, it is also the largest fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Alpine. The proceeds from this event go directly back to the children of our community. Vintage Alpine will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the beautiful Summers Past Farms. Visit the website here and reserve your tickets now!
Are you interested in joining the Kiwanis Club of Alpine and giving back to your community? Membership in a Kiwanis club connects a person with the community and other individuals he or she wouldn’t otherwise know. Club members learn about developments and happenings in their community during their regular club meetings. They also enjoy new social and business networking opportunities with the wide variety of members in their club. And, together, they combine their interests and skills to improve their community in ways that make a real impact on the lives of others, particularly children.
Kiwanians take pride in making their communities a better place to live, work and raise children. The greatest gift you could ever give yourself as a person is the gratification in knowing you are contributing your time and talents to that effort. I love the update on what Alpine Kiwanis is doing to support the children of our community…THANKS
