In 2021, Give Kids A Smile Underscores Dental Provider’s Commitment to Their Community Despite Challenges Caused by COVID 19.

(Alpine, CA, January 18, 2021) — Recently established dental clinic, Alpine Pediatric Dentistry, bring the national event, Give Kids A Smile®, to Alpine for the first time on February 9, 2021.

Statistics show that nearly one in four children between the ages of 1 and 11 have untreated cavities in their baby teeth according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additionally, 51 million hours of school are missed each year by children due to dental pain and problems. Certain populations are disproportionately affected. They include native American children, as well as those in rural areas. Many of these children are enrolled in Medicaid, however, they do not have access to a dental provider throughout the year. Recently, this challenge has been compounded with safety concerns surrounding COVID19, sparking prolonged periods of closure of community dental clinics, further reducing access to care.

“We are pleased to be a part of this program and make it safely accessible to families in Alpine for the first time,” said Dr J. Shahangian, pediatric dentist and owner of Alpine Pediatric Dentistry. “Helping children in our community have healthy teeth brings our mission statement closer to reality. We want to make it possible for more local children to improve their health now and their wellbeing in the future through the life altering power of a confident smile.” This year’s event will be held on February 9, 2016 at their dental clinic located on the second floor above Alpine Fitness (Alpine Regional Building) and will provide free dental care including comprehensive dental exams, x-rays, and additional dental work as time permits for underinsured children aged 1-16 years. Depending on number of participants, a second date has been reserved for children who may not be able to get an appointment or those who require follow up treatment visit later in February.

Due to strict COVID safety measure, space is limited, and parents should call to set up their child’s appointment:

  • Alpine Pediatric Dentistry – (619) 445-8881
