Library events LogoHappy March! Spring is on its way…and here’s what’s coming up this month at the library:

Vintage Antiques from Alpine’s History: Thursday, March 5 at 6 pm
What do a McGuffey Reader, a butter churn, a monument marker, and a marriage license all have in common? They are all over a century old and can all be seen at Alpine’s John De Witt Museum. Tom Myers, President of the Alpine Historical Society, will bring a variety of objects, each over 100 years old, to the Alpine Library to illustrate the new poster exhibit at the Library. Tom will talk about each item, describe how it was used, and tell its story. The presentation will provide insight on the life and times of early Alpine settlers.

Control Ants the Healthy Way: Saturday, March 14 at 1 pm
Learn how to make your home and garden less attractive to ants, what to do when they invade your house, why spraying chemicals does not provide effective control and much more. Special guest speaker and Environmental Horticulturist Carolyn Kinnon will be on hand to answer your questions.

Create Space (ages 18+)*: Thursday, March 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm
o you have a creative project you’d love to work on, but you never seem to have the time or space to do it at home?
Bring your project to the library and spend a few hours with nobody bothering you—get some work done and meet new people! We’ll provide cookies and coffee and nice big tables.

Acoustic in Alpine: Master of Vibes: Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm
Everyone from Lionel Hampton to the Rolling Stones to the Beach Boys has it, but have you ever heard a vibraphone in person? Master vibraphonist Anthony Smith brings the jazz greats to Alpine in a concert that takes you on an entertaining, informative journey through the history of this beautiful-sounding, but sometimes overlooked, instrument!
